Why would you choose a small assisted living facility for your aging parent?
The comforts of home that's why. These homes sometimes referred to as personal care homes offer a high level of care in a comfortable home like environment. The caregiver to resident ratio is much better that that in a skilled nursing facility and often better than the larger assisted living environments.
When I visited there was a bingo game going on but with a twist. They were learning Spanish at the same time. :-) It was delightfully engaging and the residents seemed to really enjoy the challenge. A few residents were in the living room watching a game show and one couple had just finished picking some of the most beautiful tomatoes from their garden for tonight's dinner. There was a large garden I was told was tended by the residents and everybody enjoyed the fruits of their labor.
The home feels like home not a clinical facility! With a reasonable all inclusive price this is one place I will eagerly recommend.
