Review- Small Assisted Living Homes in Southwest Houston

I visited a couple of assisted living  personal care homes  in Southwest Houston yesterday. One was really nice. When I drove up to the property it was apparent that the yard was well kept. I could see a garden in the back and places for residents to sit and enjoy the day. ( when it's not 90 degrees outside!)

Inside the floors were shinny and spotless. A resident walked up to me and began a conversation. Linda the manager showed me the whole facility. Lunch was beginning and I was able to see all of the residents and caregivers together. The residents were are clean and well groomed. They seemed to be enjoying their lunch. A caregiver sat at the table to assist one resident who was having trouble swallowing. She was so gentle  and encouraging with him. This is the kind of care you can only get in a small home like this. With only 15 residents, 3 caregivers a cook and a manager there  are plenty of people to help.

All Personal Care Homes are not created equal however. The other two I visited one was Ok. Nothing exceptional and the other I would not recommend at all.It was not clean, had an odor and most important the staff was not friendly. It felt like everybody woke up on the wrong side of the bed that morning. :-) This is why it is important to do your homework. As an Eldercare Advisor I am able to help you find a good home for your aging parent where they will receive the care they deserve.

My service is no charge to your family so please make sure to email me today! I will save you a lot of time. I know which places a have availability and what their prices are. I also know what kinds of patients the care staff can handle.

Review- Memory Care in Katy Texas

These days there are a lot of memory care facilities opening in the Katy area. How do you determine which one is the best for you?

One new community I found has some different and interesting approaches to helping their residents. Often people with memory disorders such as Alzheimer's Disease exhibit random patterns of rest and activity. They may roam the halls at all hours of the night. Their sleep/wake cycle is disrupted often.

Research is showing that bright light during the day is a powerful way of entraining natural circadian rhythms or sleep/wake cycles. This has been show to reduce agitation and anxiety.

This small memory care community in Katy Texas ( 16 residents) is the first to use LED lighting to mimic natural light. There is also plenty of natural light coming in. In fact when you walk inside you will notice that the the community feels cheerful. it is light and bright. Walking in the front door you can easily see all the way to the back yard with 10,000 sq. feet of green space. Orchards and gardens, a walking path and a beautiful porch great the guests. I am told that mornings usually begin on the porch.

This community gets 5 stars from me!
