Today I visited several Personal Care Homes in the Clear Lake area. I have to tell you they were like night and day.
The first one I toured was run down looking with paint peeling on the front door. Ok, I can look past a little paint right. :-) When the owner opened the door however the smell of urine overcame me. This is not good I thought. She had forgotten I was coming and quickly made an excuse that it was not a good time for a tour. Made me wonder....just what did she not want me to see?
The next place I visited was quite the opposite. Even though I called only 10 minutes before arriving everything was spotless. There were no smells except the delicious lunch being cooked for the residents. What I really noticed about this place however was the smiles everywhere! residents were smiling, staff was smiling and everybody seemed to be doing something. Someone was reading, a group was playing a card game, one of the staff members was painting a ladies nails, everybody seemed engaged. This was truly a home away from home and one I will happily refer my clients to.
