"But I am not really sure if she will agree. She is pretty active but needs some help with her medications and transporation. I am also worried that she may not be eating well."
As an Eldercare Advisor and Life Coach this is a conversation I have often. Your mom may need Assisted Living or she may be just fine-in fact thrive in an Independent Living community. Most of the Independent Living Communities have a home health company on site or one they are affiliated with. For an extra fee you can contract with this company to provide extra services like medication reminders or management. Independent Living Communities have transportation to and from the doctors, to go shopping , out to dinner and even to the theater.
If your parent is coming from a home an Independent Living community they may be a bit more comfortable than an Assisted Living environment. Assisted Living communities usually do not have kitchens and the apartments are much smaller. While you want your parent to be comfortable it is also important to know they are in an community that will meet their needs. An Eldercare Advisor knows the right questions to ask to make sure that your parent moves to the best environment.
Every community is different just as each person is unique. Finding the right fit is critical in ensuring that your mom or dad is happy. You know the old saying " If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy." LOL
An Eldercare Advisor will do the legwork for you and best of all there is no charge to you! Email me today and let's get started! ( I work in the Greater Houston area)
